
Yongjun Zhu
Director
Dr. Yongjun Zhu is an associate professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at Yonsei University, South Korea. He is the founding director of the DataLab and the Center for Science and Technology Studies.
Before joining Yonsei University, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Library and Information Science and chair of the Department of Data Science at Sungkyunkwan University. He also worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Information Science from the College of Computing and Informatics at Drexel University, where he was awarded the 2017 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship.
In South Korea, he is passionate about advancing the science of science through various initiatives, including:
- Introducing a graduate-level course on the science of science in 2022.
- Establishing a university-based research center dedicated to the science of science in 2025.
- Introducing an undergraduate-level course on science and technology studies in 2026.
